When was the last time you were photographed professionally?
I had some photos taken 3 years ago when I was on a real estate team. One was a
head shot and the rest were of us as a team.
Why did you decide to participate in this project?
I loved the idea of this project and I felt like I have a story to tell.
How did you feel when you first decided to participate in this
I was a little nervous about the shoot. I used to model when I was in college but
it’s been a few years! I never liked being in front of a camera; always preferred the
runway. Plus I was still early in my breast cancer recovery so I knew I’d be tired. It was a
good tired!
How did you feel in front of the camera?
Elena made me feel very comfortable in front of the camera and it shows in the
pictures.
How did you feel immediately after the photoshoot?
I was exhausted!!! It was a long day and I was still recuperating from chemo.
What was your first reaction when you saw the finished portraits?
When I saw the pictures, I thought Elena did a great job making me look beautiful and
comfortable in front of the camera.
My husband liked the photos of me that were not the glamour shots, but I liked those
too. This gave me the opportunity to be all of my selves – the friendly realtor and the
glamorous girl that likes to dress up!
Did the photoshoot help you discover or rediscover any aspects of yourself?
I already knew I hated being in front of the camera and still do. But Elena made it easy to work with her!
Was this experience mostly fun, or did it have a deeper impact on you?
This was a truly fun experience! I enjoyed being pampered (hair and makeup!) and playing dress up. It was a great way to end my cancer journey…looking and feeling great!
What wisdom would you like to share with young women today?
Follow your dreams. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Try it. If you fail, you learn from that. If you succeed, great!! Also having a supportive partner is essential. They cheerlead you on to victory!
What are the best things about aging, in your opinion?
Growing older is great. I’ve raised my children and now get to spoil my grandchildren. That’s the best part!! I dress my age but still have style. No mini-skirts or trying to look 25. I try to stay in classic styles that flatter my figure.
How have you grown or changed since entering your 40s?
When I turned 50, it’s like a light went off and I just didn’t care what people said about me or thought about me. I became more outspoken, standing up for myself and others.
What are some accomplishments or milestones you’re proud of at this
I’m proud that I’ve been able to help other women in business succeed. I still help newer realtors as they are coming up. I love giving back and helping.
Who or what inspires you at this stage of your life?
What inspires me is being with great people. Their energy moves me and I hope I contribute to their positive energy too.
Do you have a life motto that you live by?
Do what you love and love what you do. That’s my motto. And I’m living it every day!
What are your aspirations and goals for the future?
I love my role as a realtor. I really get to help people and it’s wonderful. I’ve made so many friends in this business. My clients often become family!
I plan to continue working as long as I can. It gives me purpose and pleasure. Volunteering is also important to me.
